St. Louis Magazine wrote this beautiful feature about one of my favorite couples.
The wedding was gorgeous, Intimate, and thoughtful. Honoring family and enjoying each other.
I think their love story is pretty incredible and very unique. How amazing to fall in love with each other in Hawaii on a Vessel!
Tyler and Anne are infectious and warm and are truly amazing people.
Kirkwood native finds serendipity at sea
St. Louis Magazine Feature: By Erica Stone
Courtship: In 2009, Anne Fisher left her home in Kirkwood for Pearl Harbor, Hawaii to work as a navigation officer for the Missile Defense Agency. Aboard the vessel, she met Tyler Connolly, the first assistant engineer. “I worked nights and he worked days, but I worked where the good coffee was,” Anne says. The two spent early mornings chatting over a cup of Joe between their shifts. At the end of their contracts, Anne and Tyler began a long-distance relationship, with Tyler making frequent visits to Missouri from his home in Madison, Maine.
Proposal: On Christmas of 2015, Tyler gave Anne a pair of diamond earrings. A few days later, the couple was getting ready to go out for a fancy dinner, and Anne was planning to wear the earrings. When she wasn’t looking, Tyler switched the jewelry box on her dresser with the box holding her engagement ring. “I opened it to put on the earrings,” Anne says, “and there was the ring. I was completely dumbfounded, but it was amazing.”
Ceremony & Reception: Anne and Tyler’s engagement was short—just about 10 months. “We’d been dating so long that we just wanted to get married soon thereafter,” Anne says. “Everything just kind of fell into place.” On October 29, 2016, both the ceremony and reception were held at Oliva on the Hill, which was “nice and casual but with that Italian rustic look,” and had a setup that allowed for both indoor and outdoor spaces. The wedding was intimate, and the couple aimed to give their 50 guests a feel for St. Louis, as most of them were from out of town—friends from Anne and Tyler’s many travels. In fact, the couple is so well-traveled that they decided to keep things domestic for their honeymoon: a trip to Disney World’s Epcot for the International Food and Wine Festival.
