The St. Louis meteorologists were calling for heavy precipitation here in the downtown area and we prepared to photograph Colleen & Luke’s Wedding in the rain! Despite our concerns it actually turned out to be a dry and beautiful spring day. It was truly an honor to be the photographer of this super sweet St. Louis loving couple. Colleen and Luke trusted me to capture their special date and were able to have a wonderful time by relaxing and just enjoying the day. They married at The Shrine of St. Joseph, the only example of Baroque Church Architecture in the St. Louis area and having been established in 1843 is one of the oldest standing churches in St. Louis. The MAC did a fantastic job putting together a gorgeous event. Their reception was classic and elegant hosted in The Missouri Room ballroom of the Missouri Athletic Club.
We had a blast during their photo time with their wedding party and stopped at Busch Stadium where Colleen’s brothers kissed her on the cheek. It was a super cute moment! We then went back to The Mac and Colleen had special dances with her father and sweet Grandpa and then had fun dancing the night away to St. Louis’ own Dr. Zhivegas!
Colleen shared their love story with me and I wanted to share with you all.
Colleen and Luke met for the first time while at work when Colleen was doing a training class during Luke’s first weeks of working at PepsiCo. They both can remember the day like it was yesterday. It was one of those rare moments in life when someone walks into your life for the first time and you just get a feeling they will become a special person to you. Now, you would think Luke would have had the courage to ask Colleen out when he got this feeling but he waited, and then waited some more. It took Colleen letting him know that she was going on a date for him to promptly make it known to her he would like to do the same. The best decision of his life!
Over the last four years what had started as a work crush quickly turned into something special. They experienced the many things Chicago has to offer, took vacations to the beach, NYC, and even experienced Europe together building on their wonderful relationship. It was when Luke had an opportunity to move to Florida for a promotion and Colleen followed that it became obvious they were going to spend the rest of their lives together.
After only a couple months in Florida, Luke found the perfect night to take Colleen to the beach for the sunset and ask her to be his forever date. She gave him the best gift of all and said, “Yes!” They tried making a life in Florida but quickly realized their hearts still belonged in Chicago. Colleen moved back that year in July and Luke followed by December.
On 4-22-17 they said their, “I Do’s,” and can’t wait for all the exciting adventures ahead!
